Am Rothenbaum Tennis Stadium Roof

A retractable wheel-spoke roof ensures that Germany’s longest standing tennis tournament runs no matter the weather.

The Rothenbaum Tennis Stadium is the largest center court in Germany and is one of the eleven stops on the ATP World Tour. The roof structure features a permanently covered outer area and a convertible inner area that can be opened or closed in minutes. This is doubly important in maintaining the clay surface of the court. Tensile Evolution’s Horst Dürr* helped with the membrane engineering and folding mechanism that allowed this unique roof to become a success.
